Dr. Gary J. Myszkowski
Gary Myszkowski has helped senior executives manage rapid change for more than 30 years. In the evolution of his executive coaching and consulting practice, Gary has drawn from the research and consulting frameworks of others; synthesized, tested, and enhanced these approaches with senior executives in a variety of business circumstances, resulting in his current approach to coaching and consulting services designed specifically for senior executive transitions: Three Waves of Change℠.
The Three Waves of Change℠ coaching and consulting services focus on senior executives who are transitioning into a new role, managing the required changes necessary to improve business performance, and achieving initial sustainable results, well beyond the first 90 days. These assignments may include facilitating the development and alignment of the executive's team for the review, revision, and implementation of the business strategies. The rest of the Wiznami website describes these services, case studies of implementing these services, and clients testimonials about receiving these services.
Gary's coaching goal with either the individual executive or the team is for the client to become more self-aware and self-correcting against the behavioral standards of what "more effective performance" is, as accepted by the client. He works closely with the client to create detailed, practical, concrete plans for improvement. When the client can monitor and change his or her (or team's) typical behaviors to consistently demonstrate the new performance, the coaching process is completed. He is known for his ability to adapt to a wide variety of client personalities and situations. He starts "where the client is," and enables his clients to perceive new opportunities for improvement.
Gary's other areas of expertise include coaching middle management "high potentials" for accelerated development and coaching interventions to save otherwise valued executives from potentially derailing.
Gary's consulting and coaching experience began at Hay Management Consultants in Chicago for nine years. Gary advanced to become the Midwest Regional Practice Director for Hay's Talent Management Practice. He also served as a Senior Organization Effectiveness Consultant and Executive Assessment Psychologist.
Gary was recruited from Hay to Amoco to become a strategic change partner (Organization Effectiveness Consultant) to two consecutive CEOs of the Amoco Chemicals Company. He also advanced to become the head of Amoco's global OE shared services consulting group. As an internal consultant, he had the advantage of having lived with - and learned from - the consequences of his advice and counsel. At Amoco he also consulted in managing the changes necessary to integrate acquisitions of $50MM to $50MMM (BP-Amoco merger / acquisition) as an integral part of the integration team as the senior change management consultant.
Gary earned his Ph.D. and master’s degrees at the University of Chicago and his bachelor’s degree at Union College. He was a Visiting Scholar to Northwestern’s J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management. He has completed advanced training at the Illinois School of Professional Psychology. He also taught "Executive Communication and Influence" at Purdue Calumet's EMBA program as part time contract adjunct faculty for five years. He is often retained as a public speaker or contract faculty for customized executive development programs.
His clients tend to consider him as a business executive “who happens to be a psychologist.” Gary resides near Chicago.
